WORLD FREESTYLE ROUND-UP EVENT BRANDING
Graphic Design
Client
World Freestyle Round-Up, the largest freestyle skateboarding championship in the world held each year in British Columbia, Canada
Role
Graphic Designer
Project Brief
Each year, the World Freestyle Round-Up event organizers select one of the competitors to design the skateboarding contest’s logo, which is used in all branding for the event including a special commemorative belt buckle plus trophies, t-shirts, and goodie bags; ensure the files are ready for silkscreening
Key Insight
Use the limited space and dimensions of the belt buckle to create a logo that represents the most important aspects of the contest: the competition is in Canada, the silhouette of the featured skateboarder, the name, the year; the design should have a certain classic feeling to it, as it is held in during the Cloverdale Rodeo & Country Fair each year
Solution
Create a logo for the belt buckle (which will also be used on other event printed items) that represents the contest, its style of skateboarding (freestyle), year, and location
